CARE Program - 20% Discount

The CARE program (California Alternate Rates for Energy) provides a 20% discount on monthly electric bills for qualifying households. To be eligible for CARE, total household income must meet the income guidelines listed below:


If you meet these guidelines, you can apply for the CARE program by downloading an application and mailing it to BVES or by contacting BVES by phone at 1-800-808-BVES(2837).


Medical Baseline Program - For Qualified Medical Needs

More of your household’s energy can be billed at the lowest rate if someone in your household has a qualified medical need that requires addition electric use. This program is available for those who require the use of life support equipment and for certain medical conditions. You can obtain an application for this program by calling BVES at 1-800-808-BVES(2837). A doctor’s certification also will be required.

Military Family Relief Program

This program provides assistance to military families, including a 180-day shut off protection for the family/dependents of military personnel. Extended payment terms also are available to assist military families due to the reduced income from a call to active duty military service. To apply for this program call BVES at 1-800-808-BVES(2837).
